Meet the Owners & Learn the Background of Bodies in Motion

“To create the ultimate, multi-faceted facility that promotes life longevity vibrancy, health, fitness, and character through motion.” That was the dream of local martial arts and fitness instructors- Duncan & Rachel Richardson. The dream was created in 2008 when Duncan and Rachel realized that Boise was missing a facility that strengthens the human body mentally and physically, while also promoting family involvement.

“There are plenty of health clubs for adults, and plenty of entertainment centers for children. Why not merge the two?”, says Duncan. He also continues to say, “Imagine a facility where you can bring your kids to participate in martial arts, music, tumbling, or agility programs, while you enjoy conversations with friends over latte’. Or, if you prefer your latte’ after a workout, then you can do one of our group exercise classes like aerobic kickboxing or Zumba.”

Don’t get Duncan and Rachel started on food services. They are absolutely appalled by the concession style junk food that you find in most children’s facility. While the school districts are trying to break free of the high accessibility to junk food and soft drinks, children facilities are capitalizing on it. Duncan and Rachel are sticking to their guns and have licensed Sandella’s Flatbread Cafe’. You will find several healthy and delicious food options, and no soft drinks!

Duncan & Rachel began changing people’s lives in the late 90’s at The Academy of World Taekwondo, by offering programs beyond the traditional martial arts curriculums. They branched out and captured an audience for adult exercise, summer camp programs, and special children’s activities. The Academy of World Taekwondo had explosive growth over it’s first decade of operation. Although Duncan and Rachel were happy with changing lives through mental and physical growth, they felt it was time to leave a bigger footprint of positive development on this planet.

At Bodies in Motion, you’re going to find that Duncan and Rachel, as well as the entire team to be down to earth, excited individuals, who feel it is their responsibility to provide the best experience possible.
